DIY Clipsal 30PBL Momentary Switch: Wall Mount Gate Remote Conversion

Looking for a wall-mounted remote for your automatic gate? In this DIY Clipsal 30PBL momentary switch project, I’ll show you how to convert a standard Clipsal wall switch into a custom Nice Flor remote control that blends perfectly with your existing wall switches.

DIY Clipsal 30PBL Momentary Switch Conversion

I needed a wall-mounted remote for my Nice brand automatic gate but couldn’t find anything suitable on the market. The solution? Create my own using a Clipsal Impress push button switch. The main advantage of using the Clipsal range is that it perfectly matches existing wall lighting switches for a seamless look.

I purchased the single gang push button without LED (model 30PBL) from eBay for just $18 including postage. This DIY Clipsal 30PBL momentary switch project is perfect for anyone looking to add convenient gate control that looks professional.

Converting from Latching to Momentary Function

Upon opening the push button mechanism, I discovered that converting from latching to momentary wasn’t straightforward. Clipsal designed a simple toggle mechanism that switches from one contact to another with each press.

Installing a Momentary Button Inside the Clipsal Switch

Instead of modifying the existing mechanism, I took a different approach. I found a compatible momentary push button for $5 and embedded it inside the Clipsal housing. This DIY Clipsal 30PBL momentary switch conversion required removing some of the plastic from the original mechanism to make room for the new button.

Creating the Wall-Mounted Nice Flor Remote

With the momentary switch ready, I used an old Nice Flor-s remote to complete the project. I simply soldered wires to the remote’s PCB and connected them to the Clipsal switch. Once installed, the remote was hidden inside the wall-mounted electrical box, creating a clean, professional-looking gate control solution.
