The Roborock S6 Robot Vacuum is able to map your whole house and then allow for creating zones and rooms on these maps. When I saw the map, I was amazed at how accurate the maps looked, surely taking over the role of a drafter as well as a cleaner for $500.
Firstly, I was interested if there was anyway to export the maps, to a more user friendly format, a CAD or vector based format, and unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that is possible at this stage. The best I could come up with was casting the Roborock app to a desktop and taking a larger resolution screenshot from there. It isn’t too bad. With a little tweaking, there is no reason real-estate agents couldn’t use this to display house floorplans on their advertisements.
But now the other question, how accurate are the maps. Well, fairly accurate. I compared the Roborock to the original architecture drawings and a similar CAD drawing and it was fairly similar that one couldn’t really tell the differences if walking the map in real life. I did notice the north-south and east-west dimensions were not quite scaled the same compared to the drafted drawings, but it was hardly noticeable.

Obviously, it doesn’t detect walls correctly if there are kitchen bench cupboards and bathroom vanities.
