After serving as one of Australia’s pioneering free credit score services, Credit Savvy has announced significant changes to its platform. Starting May 14, 2025, the standalone Credit Savvy website and app will close, with the service continuing exclusively through the CommBank app.
What’s Changing?
Credit Savvy has observed a clear shift in user behavior over recent years. While fewer people are accessing their credit scores through the dedicated Credit Savvy platform, the majority have migrated to checking their scores via the CommBank app, which offers Credit Savvy-powered services.
In response to this trend, Credit Savvy will:
- Close its dedicated website and app on May 14, 2025
- Continue providing free Experian credit score access through the CommBank app
- Automatically close all accounts on the closure date
What This Means for Current Users
If you’re a Credit Savvy member, here’s what you should know:
- No immediate action required – You can continue using the Credit Savvy website and app normally until May 14, 2025
- Automatic account closure – Your account will be automatically closed on the shutdown date
- Data protection – Personal information will be destroyed or de-identified in accordance with their Privacy Policy
- SavvyShield protection continues – Existing credit file bans placed through SavvyShield will remain active until their scheduled expiration dates
How to Access Your Score After the Change
The good news is that you can still access your Experian credit score for free after May 14, 2025. You don’t need to be a CommBank customer to do so:
For Non-CommBank Customers:
- Download the CommBank app (iOS or Android)
- Tap “Sign up to CommBank”
- When “Get started” appears, select “Check your credit score”
- Follow the on-screen prompts to verify your identity
- Agree to appoint Credit Savvy to access your score
For Existing CommBank App Users:
- Log into the CommBank app
- Search “check credit score”
- First-time users will need to follow prompts to authorize access
Via NetBank (CommBank Customers):
- Visit the Credit Score page on the CommBank website
- Click “Check credit score”
- Log in using your CommBank client number and password
- Follow any authorization prompts if it’s your first time
Alternative Options
If you prefer not to use the CommBank app, Credit Savvy recommends exploring other free credit score services through the Australian government’s Moneysmart website.
