IMDB Top 250 movies extended, past and present v2.0

I have further updated my Top 250 list with a lot of cool features. The main improvement is daily updating of ratings and votes, and the automatic insertion of any new movies that enter the top 250.

http://imdbtop250.t.com/

A brief explanation on headings:

  • Rank – the rank of the movie sorted by weighted and then average rating, similar to the actual IMDB top 250 rank
  • Rating – the IMDB weighted rating, pulled from each movie page so only available to 1 decimal place (for now)
  • Title – the movie’s title, if title was in quotes these have been removed
  • Year – the movies year
  • Votes – the total number of votes
  • Average – the movies average rating, calculated from the movies ratings page
  • Year in Top 250 – the last year the movie was seen in the Top 250, pre 2008 data was pulled from the Internet Archive
  • Actual – the actual IMDB top 250 rating, useful to filter only movies in the actual IMDB top 250

Credit to daemach for his tableFilter app used to produce the fancy sort and filters.

hey good job on this. i have been wanting to look for something like this because the list keeps fluctuating and i am trying to watch as many of these movies as i can. There are a lot of movies that have appeared in your list but are missing such as Atonement which i definitely have seen on the list before. Heres a link where it was 240:

also i have seen taken (2008), forgetting sarah marshall (to my suprise), giant, and edward scissorhands on the list. i wil try and find records for you.

    Hope u find this useful

    Ken,

    Thanks for the comment.

I only started updating the list daily from November, hence why the October post you linked is slightly different. The rest of the moves where taken from the Internet Archive http://www.archive.org/ and it is no way complete.

It is a shame as so many good movies go missing and you never hear about them again.

I will update the list manually to include the few missed, if you have other sources of cached lists that would help as well.

What a great idea! And: how about bottom 100 extended? It might be even more needed because it’s changing even faster than top 250.
