DIY Videosphere LCD Mod: Bezel Finishing and Screen Installation

DIY Videosphere LCD Mod: Step-by-Step Progress

Welcome to the latest update on my DIY Videosphere LCD mod project! Today I’m sharing how I finished the bezel and mounted the LCD screen – key milestones in transforming this vintage shell into a modern display.

Perfecting the DIY Videosphere Bezel

After hours of careful work, I’ve finished sanding the bezel to my satisfaction. The opening required some trimming as it was slightly oversized and had uneven edges. Getting this right is crucial for a professional-looking DIY Videosphere mod.

DIY Videosphere Painting Process

The painting process for the DIY Videosphere mod involved multiple careful steps:

  1. Applied two layers of white undercoat for proper coverage
  2. Followed with two layers of matte black for the final finish

Here’s how the completed bezel looks installed in the Videosphere shell. The black finish complements the vintage aesthetic while giving it a modern touch.

LCD Screen Modifications for DIY Videosphere

The LCD screen needed some adjustments to fit properly in the spherical housing. I carefully trimmed the corners to match the curvature of the Videosphere shell.

Installing the LCD in the DIY Videosphere

The final step was securing the LCD screen in place. I used adhesive to mount it properly, ensuring it sits flush with the bezel. I’ll clean up any glue residue in the final stages of the project.

Next Steps in the DIY Videosphere Project

With the physical installation complete, I’m now focusing on connecting the LCD circuitry. This will involve carefully routing the wires and ensuring everything fits within the limited space of the Videosphere shell.

DIY Videosphere mods like this one combine vintage aesthetics with modern technology. The challenge is maintaining the original look while incorporating new components.
